Repair Instead of Replace

A good pair of shoes can cost a lot of money. A nice pair of leather dress shoes can cost well over $100 for a man of modest means, and can cost upwards of $500 for somebody who really dresses for success. When you find a pair of shoes that you like, you get used to wearing them, and you do not want to change. Inevitably, depending on the make of shoe and the amount of wear, after a year or five years, the shoes start to break down. Most men will wear them to the point where they cannot be worn to get the most out of them, then will grudgingly start the process over by purchasing a replacement pair of shoes. You can break the cycle. Shoe repair can turn those old shoes that you love so much into something almost new.
When you find a pair of shoes that you like, you are making a commitment. How many times have you tried on shoes in the store and thought they would do the trick, only to wear them later and have them pinch and hurt your feet more than a new pair of shoes that just need breaking in should? You cannot take them back after that, so you are stuck with a pair of shoes that are not very comfortable that you do not want to wear. Money well spent. The pair that you have had for years is comfortable. You know what they feel like, you know what they go with, and you know what you have. Fixing them gives you several more years of life and the certainty that you will not have hurt feet the next time you wear them.
Repairing shoes saves money. New shoes, especially nice shoes, are expensive. Repairs can be completed which make the shoe look almost like new for a fraction of the sale price of an actual new pair. In this economy, that just makes good financial sense. You can take the savings and buy something else, or just be happy that you did not have to shell out as much for a new pair of shoes.
A good pair of dress shoes never goes out of style. Many men discount the idea of shoe repair for fear that the shoes they have are no longer in fashion. Leather dress shoes are virtually timeless. The pair you are wearing today will still look good in five years. As long as the shoes are clean and look sharp, the make and model are irrelevant.
Shoe repair is available in a variety of locations. Most major malls have a cobbler. The phonebook will list all shoe repair facilities in your area. Some enterprising businesses are now doing shoe repair over the Internet. You can fill out an order form, ship your worn out shoes to a repair center and a few weeks later you will receive what looks like a brand new pair of shoes in the mail. What could be more convenient than that?
